Our Vision

We created Fox Lab when we realised the need for a more collaborative process with artists for printing their fine art projects. We realised that artists want more than just dropping off their files and then coming back to collect them. We created a more hands-on approach that allows you to collaborate with us in a way that keeps you informed and part of the printing process. Our vision is also a commitment and a promise, to you the artist. Fox Lab is dedicated to providing a more collaborative process for artists who require printing for fine art projects. Our vision is also a commitment and a promise to you the artist. We are dedicated to providing you with one-on-one customer care that ensures a better understanding of this final step in your workflow.

We are passionate about helping you take your work from the digital space, to being displayed in the real world precisely as you visualised. We understand that artists want more than just to drop off their files and come back when they are ready to collect. Therefore, we created Fox Lab, providing a more hands-on approach, that allows you the artist to have a more personalised experience that treats you like a person, not just an order number. We understand because each artwork is different and so is the printing process and approach required. We provide a personalised touch which allows us to get to know you and your artwork, ensuring you remain informed and updated on every part of the printing process. Our vision at Fox Lab is to offer a unique service to the art and photographic communities. We are dedicated to providing a service like no other, a collaboration between artist and printmaker.

Sustainability at Foxlab

In the fast-paced digital world, we realise that sustainability and protecting our environment is no longer an option. It is a necessary requirement. Fox Lab is dedicated to managing a sustainable, environmentally friendly service in the following ways.

We recycle all our ink cartridges. We are also a drop-off point for anyone who needs to recycle their own printer inks and cartridges. As much as possible, we also reuse all of our existing packaging when sending out orders. All invoices and price lists are also sent out digitally to avoid any unnecessary use of paper.

We are a Bubble wrap free zone. We do not use it in any of our packages. We protect the packaging of our prints by using archival tissue paper. This has a very minimal impact on the environment. We either donate or compost all our excess paper scraps, right here in our garden.

We use finely tuned colour management and procedures. Therefore, we have very little printing wastage. We have procedures in place to ensure that we keep all printing wastage to the bare minimum.

Fox Lab is dedicated to being sustainable. We even have solar panels on our roof. We are always looking at ways we can reduce our carbon footprint by using more sustainable products and continue to be educated on sustainability options available to our business.

Printing Specifications

We currently have over 15 different types of paper we are able to print on, these range from archival to non archival stock, canvas, japanese washi and our sustainable options of Hemp, Agave, Sugarcane and Bamboo. If you are interested in trying any of our papers we recommend test printing.

Fine Art printing is our game! It takes us a great deal of time to ensure your artwork and photos are printed to an extremely high specification, as such this does not leave us time for much else. If you are after other types of printing we can recommend some local businesses that specialise in different products.

Short answer, no. While we would be happy to run off your entire edition we also understand budgets and the inability for products to sell right away. Printing a single print is more than fine with us.

Digital work can be supplied via Dropbox or Wetransfer or as we prefer, you can come in and see us with your work on a usb or hard drive. Photographs should be supplied in a .tiff format using the Adobe RGB colour space and in 16bit ( unless already specified by us). If you are unsure about exporting or file preparation we would be glad to help you through these steps. File preparation greatly depends on the size we are printing and the stock we are printing on. For more information please contact us.

We can print images up to 44 inches wide, that's a little over 1metre and any length you require. The size of the print will depend on the quality of the file and how well it can be resized. We recommend getting in touch with us if you are after printing your images large.

Art Reproduction

We can copy artwork up to 1.5m x 3m if necessary. Any artwork larger than this will need to be copied out of the studio ( which we can do for a small fee).

Yes of course! We recommend very securely packaging your work and sending it to us, we will let you know once it has arrived. Once the copying has been done we will ship it back to you. We also offer on location copying services, if you live local and for a small fee we can come to you!

We do provide a single artist proof with each artwork copied for you to keep. If you would like to organise test printing on a variety of different papers we can organise this for you. Test printing is charged at $7.50 per sheet.

Pricing

Once we have received your order we will send out an invoice to you which you can pay via credit card or bank transfer. We have set up studio payments too using the Square facility for those wanting to pay on collection. All orders over $200 will be required to pay a 50% deposit before the order can progress to production.

Yes! Anyone that has a student card will be able to receive 10% off most of our services. This discount excludes postage and test printing.

Yes! We have packages available for anyone looking to exhibit their work. We offer payment plans and discounted pricing in return for mentions across your social media platforms, posters and flyers for the exhibition and banners on the night. Please get in touch with us if you are wanting any more information.

Unfortunately not, due to our main clientele being professional artists and photographers and our prices already being very competitive we don't offer further discounts across our products and services.

Postage

We sure do. We use this service for most of our artists who would like to spend their time in creating the work and not having to worry about the logistics of posting prints. We offer branding packages with all your work going out so it looks as though it has come straight from you. Please chat to us if this is something you would like to offer.

For prints smaller than A2 we flat pack them in between thick cardboard and placed in protective bags. Larger prints are carefully rolled in archival tissue and placed into strong mailing tubes. All prints are sent out with care instruction sheets.

Framing and Canvas

We can organise framing on your behalf, we have a small selection of frames here in the studio that you can view. All framing is done via our good friends at Leamac Picture Framing. Framing can be collected from our studio once it's complete.

Yes, we offer canvas printing. Canvas is a great way to showcase your work free of framing. We offer both rolled and stretched options.
